A Manly C Ring! (photo: FreddyandEddy.com)
Male strippers know, most leather daddies know, and plenty of orgasmic men and women do, too. Do you know what the fuss about cock rings is all about? Today’s Friday Pleasure Post is dedicated to giving you all the information you need to share the pleasure of cock rings. Read more, after the jump:
A cock ring is a sort of what it sounds like, but not quite. True, it is a ring made of either a firm or stretchy material, and it does go around your (or at least somebody’s) cock. However, contrary to what my undergrad students thought before someone asked me (kids these days! ;) ), they don’t JUST go around the cock. They’re worn flat against the pelvis, so both the scrotum and cock must be pulled through the ring to wear it correctly.
Great, I have jewlery around my twig’n'berries. Any particular reason I have thusly bejeweled myself, Ruth?
Yes! A cock ring is designed keep you harder and maybe even a little bigger than usual, with a more consistent firmness throughout your play time. On top of all that goodness, it also helps a man to be more sensitive, and many folks agree that it just looks darned hot and manly. It works its magic by allowing blood to flow into the penis while making it more difficult for the blood to flow back out. It should not be painful to wear, and in fact men usually say it feels quite good.

ya' know, like those country western neck thingers!
Cock rings are made of several different materials, and I suggest you start with a flexible type. In fact, a good beginner’s cock ring might look more like one of those country western necktie things. See the pictures on the left, that will help. Someone comment and tell me what those ties are called, ok? I’m going to be thinking about it all night, trying to figure it out. Anyway, the found ball near the bottom can be slid up and down, making it easy to get on, tighten, and remove. Thought I was gonna say “get off,” didn’t you? Another great starter option is the ever-popular leather bracelet look-alike. It’s a narrow strip of leather with 3-13+ snaps on it that is worn in the same place, but snapped on instead of slid & tucked on. Jelly rubber rings are also out there, they feature lots of stretch and sometimes even a clitoral stimulator or vibrator! Wheee!
There is a very good reason to start with one that is easily removed: if it gets stuck on there you’re going to have to go to the ER to have it removed. Yes, my mother has stories about this from her time as an ER nurse, so it is a verified fact. If a penis is erect for too long there will be long-term damage, which is why you should never shoot illegal drugs in yourself for the purpose of a mega-erection.
So, good! You’ve got a beginners ring and you’ve worn it often. You’re ready for something a little more standard and ring-like. You may progress to a rubber, latex or nitrile ring, which is firmer and rolls on (you still will need to tuck, though) and doesn’t stretch as much. In a pinch (ouch!) you can cut it off with a pair of medical scissors, found at your local pharmacy. Buy them in advance, ok?
What, you’re more hardcore than that? Great! Time to move up to a metal ring, like those shown in the image at the top of this post. Those rings, by the way, are super heavy at almost a pound of steel. Smaller ones are more common. FreddyandEddy.com are kind enough to tell us how to measure for a cock ring:
To fit properly, a cock ring should be loose enough to get on and off easily, but a bit snug to work its magic once the blood starts pumping. To calculate the minimum size of a cock ring, cut a strip of paper or ribbon no wider than 1/4 inch. Starting from the top of your penis at the base (where it meets your body), wrap the paper under your scrotum, bringing it around to the starting point. Mark the paper where it meets. Measure that length, then divide by three.
Thanks, FreddyandEddy!
REMEMBER: Take your cock ring off within 30 minutes to avoid doing damage to yourself, and remove it immediately if it becomes at all uncomfy or you just get nervous and don’t like it anymore. Cock rings don’t work as erection magic for all men, although they can still be cool to look at. If you’re experiencing erectile dysfunction and want to try something drug-free like this, ask your doctor about a “constriction ring” – they’re similar, but medically tested, and used with specially medically approved penis pumps. Oh yeah, and don’t make your own cock ring out of random crap from around the house. You can buy a ring from a store for less than a pizza, so just spring for it. Who knows how you’ll manage to hurt yourself if you mess with office supplies or whatever you were just thinking of. Be kind to your family jewels!
